About

The ability to stay healthy is usually connected to the joy that one has in life.  There have been many studies that have linked joy to health and staying healthy is really a big part of it.  This year I think many people have focused on their health more than any other due to COVID-19.  The reason that many people have hyperfocused on dental health has been because of many of the regulations our Country has enacted.  We are now generally supposed to wear facemasks everywhere in the country when out in public.  This has brought the health of each person's dental care into mind.  The reason for this is rather simple.  People are now smelling their own breath and are hyper-focusing on it.  This means that people are now thinking about their dental care and are asking themselves if they should go see their dentist due to their bad breath.

The question of whether you should see a dentist is a personal matter.  The reasons could be important to see them if you are experiencing pain or discomfort.  But many people are simply smelling their own breath and think they may have an issue.  I am a person that would always be a little more cautious and would probably just go see them for a checkup.

The ADA suggests that you see your dentist at least twice a year.  I think a biannual trip is good to find out where your health is.  You may be experiencing a little pain that can be taken care of quickly without an emergency situation.  In my mind, if you are able to prevent a major issue before it happens, then you probably should.  I also find much of the time that i am simply happier because of it.

Not feeling drastic amounts of pain is a win in my book.  I think most people find going to the dentist to be a terrible time because they have waited for too long to visit and they are now in an emergency situation.  That is truly a bad place to be in and I find that tooth pain is usually severe compared to other types of common injuries.  The joy in your life can completely be sucked out if you are in severe pain and if that can be stopped then I would much rather do it.  Seeing your dentist a few times a year can help prevent those emergency situations and also end up saving money in the long run.

The cost of surgery or a major tooth operation can be a lot of money.  I think the thousands of dollars on a tooth issue and all the pain that goes with it is not a good thing.  The cost of seeing your dentist twice a year for a checkup or cleaning is usually much less in the aggregate when compared to waiting for an emergency situation.

Not everyone is the same though.  It is possible that you may need to do a few more checkups each year especially if you have a sensitive situation for your dental care.  I would suggest finding a good dentist nearby that you can count on to help you and protect your health.  I wish you the best during these tough times and I hope this helps you get an idea of how often you should visit your dentist.
